As the rhythmic driving force behind the band MY BABY, drummer Joost van Dijck is known for the musical adventures he takes together with his sister Cato van Dijck (vocals/guitar) and Daniel Johnston (guitar). The trio bends a wide array of genres including blues, roots, dub, funk, psychedelic rock, and dance into a distinct new blend—something they call ‘Soulful Psychedelic Techno-Blues.’
Another band Van Dijck is part of is called Supercity. Founded in 2007, the band explores cumbia rhythms, tropical sounds, and psychedelic music. Joost joined humble heroes with a stripped-down version of Supercity: he’s joined by Vincent Pino (guitar), Miguel Petrucelli (bass), and Yvo Sprey (guitar/vocals)—the latter of whom also appeared on various albums by MY BABY.
