Session with Dutch musician Ko Zandvliet. Ko Zandvliet is a Dutch musician and actor celebrated for his multi-faceted talents, both on screen and in the music world. Growing up in a creative family, Ko was drawn to the arts early on, which naturally led him to music. He pursued formal training at Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, where he became a skilled multi-instrumentalist, specializing in trombone and percussion. His dual expertise in brass and rhythm allows him to explore a wide range of genres and sounds. Ko’s musical career first took flight as a member of Jungle by Night, the Amsterdam-based ensemble known for blending afrobeat, jazz, and funk. As the group’s trombonist and percussionist, Ko adds both melodic and rhythmic elements to their unique sound. His contributions have played a pivotal role in the band’s success, helping them gain a loyal following across Europe, performing at iconic festivals like North Sea Jazz and touring internationally. Beyond his work with Jungle by Night, Ko’s versatility as a musician has made him a sought-after collaborator. He has performed with De Staat, bringing his distinct sound to their alternative rock performances, and worked with Cato van Dijck of My Baby, enriching her music with his brass and rhythmic talents.
