Bassist Manuel Hugas (1968) has been active in the Dutch music scene since 1990. He has worked with Candy Dulfer, Jan Akkerman, Kane, Zuco 103, Keith Caputo, Benjamin Herman and many others, live as well as in the studio. Together with keyboard player/producer Wiboud Burkens he founded the indie soul act Liquid Spirits in 2006. They wrote and produced four internationally acclaimed albums. They also wrote songs and toured with Lalah Hathaway and Leon Ware, and were members of the American soul act Daughters Of Soul, with, among others, Sandra st Victor, Lalah Hathaway, Joyce Kennedy and Denise Williams.
In 2006 he won a ‘Duiveltje’ and was chosen as best bass player of the Netherlands. Manuel has taught bass at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Pop Department since its foundation in 2003.
