Session with Marnix Dorrestein. Marnix Dorrestein is a Dutch composer, producer, guitarist, lyricist, arranger, singer and drummer from Amsterdam. Marnix Dorrestein is a versatile musician from Amsterdam and raised in Soest. He began his musical journey at a young age, inspired by the Beatles, initially playing drums before transitioning to electric guitar and songwriting. With his childhood friend Jelte Tuinstra (Jett Rebel), he attended the Baarnsch Lyceum. Marnix is a graduate of the Conservatory of Amsterdam, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Herman van Veen and participated in various bands, including Sheriff of Hong Kong and Aestrid. Dorrestein’s innovative electropop project IX showcased his experimentation with diverse musical styles. Marnix is a talented musician and co-producer who began his journey in 2011 with compositions for the theater production Alfred Jodocus Kwak Vader. He has collaborated with notable artists such as Van Veen, Kris Berry, Perquisite, and Anne van Veen, showcasing his versatility and passion for music. He has made television appearances and achieved recognition in composition competitions, including winning the prestigious Grote Prijs van Nederland twice.
