Phaedra studied bass at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and became one of the first female ‘Master of Music Basgitaar’ of the Netherlands in 2004. For many years she has been a much sought-after musician within the word of jazz, pop and theater. Her love for George Michael led to a self made theaterperformance called ‘The Story of George Michael’ together with Charly Luske which was a great succes. In 2016 she was named ‘Best Fusion/jazzbassist player of the Benelux’ by trade journal ‘De Gitarist’.
Her many-sided musical talent has brought her to many places in the world. With her own poptrio ‘McChicks’ she has traveled the world from the Netherlands, Greece, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, to America. Releasing her own records and touring live she stood out and even an American newspaper called her ‘The Angel of The Netherlands’ and ‘The Dutch Sting’.
If that wasn’t enough Phaedra Kwant also works as a teacher, records voice-overs and writes for the trade journal ‘De Bassist’.
