Tim Hennekes (22) is a talented drummer from the Netherlands. As a graduated student from the Conservatory in Amsterdam, he’s active as a drummer in the highly praised Gijs Idema Trio, IKODO and he’s involved in a lot of other projects. Tim has performed with various acts in several venues and on festivals like BIMhuis, North Sea Jazz Festival, TivoliVredenburg, Lantaren Venster, Canal Festival, Transition Festival and abroad in Turkey, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany and Belgium.

In 2015 he started his bachelor on CvA, where he was taught by Marcel Serierse, Lucas van Merwijk and Martijn Vink. Masterclasses he was allowed to attend where given by various major Jazz musicians, such as drummers Billy Hart, Jeff Watts, guitarist Peter Bernstein and pianist Brad Mehldau.

In 2018 Tim won the Sena Performance Gouden Slifje. In the jury rapport he was described as a versatile drummer with a lot of expressiveness and individuality in his playing. His studious attitude combined with his inquisitive nature meant he’s a promise for the future. In 2018 Tim was also the winner of the Keep an Eye Outstanding Talent award. An award created to praise the most exceptional talent from the Young Metropole Orchestra. The jury for this prize was the chief conductor Vince Mendoza.
