Kristóf Hajós

Kristóf Hajós is an Amsterdam based Hungarian queer singer, lyricist and musician. His third album 6:00PM
will be released digitally and on vinyl by Tiny Room Records (together with Hajós’ own imprint Bitterfly Music)
on 13 February 2025. Approaching his semi-centenary, Kristóf turns to exploring what it means to grow older
in the queer community. Growing up without older role models created a gap that shaped his perspective. In
recent years, he has embraced a deeper understanding of the passage of time, which is reflected in his
latest batch of songs.

The album was produced by Dutch indie pop musician Stefan Breuer (The World of Dust, Combo Qazam,
ex-I am Oak) and contains nine chiseled, catchy songs that reflect both the disco pop of the 80s as the lo-fi
indie of this present era. The album features a very diverse palette of sounds, with kalimba ballads and disco
funk following one another, without losing the melancholic yet serene thread running through the album.
Apart from the musical accompaniment by Breuer, there are guest contributions by Turkish Amsterdammer
Tappin’ K (beats), Jack Kenney (bass, backing vocals, guitars) and Sandor Szanyi (lead guitars). Most of the
music was written by Breuer, with three exceptions: the beautiful guitar ballad Hey, Sister by Szanyi, the
funky disco track Lazy Heart by Kenney, and Goodbye Budapest by Hungarian musician László Pásztor,
who came to fame with his disco band Neoton in the 60s and 70s in Hungary and the far East, selling over
six million records. Goodbye Budapest is Pásztor’s first composition after a 20 year long hiatus.

After a praised career with slowcore pop and chamber ballad band The Unbending Trees (2006-2015),
Kristóf Hajós released his first solo record Good Morning, Nothingness in 2022. On this album, Kristóf
reconciled with the past and embraced a new life, healed from traumas and turning towards the future. In
2023 he released his second album Geography, which reflected on relocation and the question of identity.
The most played song of this album surpassed 100k streams on Spotify.
