“Started playing rhythm and dub, rapping and stepping on reggae and punkrock” -‘This Town’ With their sunny blend of ska, punk and reggae the four guys of Starfish take you straight to the beach. Coming from the Northwest Coast of Holland this might not really come as a surprise. These boys just breath the sea and summer beach life, and turn this into an explosive party with flip-flops flying around. After an inspirational time in Central America singer/guitarist Mats Admiraal starts the band with bass player Peter Schillemans, drummer Elmar Lambers and Thomas Wobben on guitar and keys. Influenced by the Long Beach scene with bands like Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, ska punk legends like Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake and Jaya the Cat and world famous artists such as Bob Marley, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arctic Monkeys, Starfish quickly makes a name for itself with their energetic live show and wins Dutch awards like the IJmond Popprijs, Sencityprijs and Mixtream Festivalcontest. May 2016 sees the release of their debut EP ‘Brand New Day’ on the German Ring of Fire Records, including the single ‘No Rasta’ with currently over 330.000 plays on Spotify. Followed by their second EP ‘Sonic Fire’ in 2017 with the singles ‘Another View’ & ‘Dangerzone’ with a score counting of 65,000 streams. 2018 did not have to wait too long for new music when the darker single ‘Waves Don’t Die’ saw the light in March along with a Cinematic Videoclip. Soon after the beach bums live up their name as Summer band with their dancehall-indierock mixture ‘When We’re in the Club’ along with a release party which was filmed for their Videoclip. After again a beautiful year with coverage on 3FM, 3voor12 and Radio 1, club shows with bands like TenTemPies, Patchanka, Caravãna Sun, Bootleg Rascal, Ocean Alley and John Coffey, and national/international festivals such as Young Art Festival, Surfana, Dicky Woodstock, Enter the Wave (FR), Rampe Open Air (CH) and Zandstock, the guys go back into the studio. After two EP’s and lots of singles released on both the German label and their own label Sunny Vibes Records, Starfish is retreating to it’s hibernation room: the Studio, for lots of new Sunny Vibes in 2019. “Starting the day with some Sonic Fire”- ‘Sonic Fire’
